August – no longer the traditional ‘quiet’ month’

Pardon the Interruption

This article is just an example of the content available to mallowstreet members.

On average over 150 pieces of new content are published from across the industry per month on mallowstreet. Members get access to the latest developments, industry views and a range of in-depth research.

All the content on mallowstreet is accredited for CPD by the PMI and is available to trustees for free.

At mallowstreet, we often look forward to August as a month to brainstorm new ideas, improve our systems and processes, and plan for the remainder of the year.  As people head away for their summer holidays, we used to notice a drop in the inbound emails, and a significant dip in the activity on mallowstreet. August was the month of planning.

This year, August was not the traditional ‘quiet month’ for the mallowstreet team, or on mallowstreet.  We saw more than 85 comments from the community and 76 new individuals (60% of whom were trustees from pension funds) register and join the site.

The top 10 search terms highlight what is front of mind for these engaged trustees on mallowstreet.

Perhaps I’m reading too much into it, but it would it would appear that many pension funds had a similar view to us about using the month of August to reflect. The top search terms of Governance, Risk, Education and ESG all suggest that they are taking a look at themselves, and thinking about how to better prepare to navigate an increasingly unpredictable world (politics, markets, volatility, you name it!)

I’ve written a fair bit on ESG over the past few months, and this topic remains a consistent top 10 search term this year.  This month, we are taking this trending theme and will be taking a much closer look at the topic on mallowstreet.com, as well as hosting a number of education events for pension funds and their consultants.   The first one is on Tuesday, 11th September: the Sustainability Investment Focus.

In addition to this, there will be a new piece on sustainability published every day on mallowstreet in September.  Don’t miss out on the discussions, and please do get involved.  There are a number of unanswered questions that require the expertise of the community, so every blog written and comment made counts towards our collective wisdom.  Here are some of the key pieces published so far this month.

And don’t forget, if you know someone who would benefit from the discussions and educational content posted on mallowstreet, you can invite them to join (click here).
