mallowstreet University Dinner: Co-investing with Managers - the Benefits and Pitfalls

Institutional investors around the world are increasingly engaging with their managers to 'co-invest' alongside them, whether it’s in private equity, infrastructure or in diverse hedge fund strategies. Co-investing has numerous potential benefits including increasing a scheme’s exposure into a manager’s highest conviction ideas at the same time reducing overall fee load, as co-investments are often implemented at no incremental fee. Importantly, co-investments require a very specific skill set to properly analyze and fully understand the risks.

In this University Dinner, Chicago-based Fred Pollock - Head of Strategic Investments, a member of the Public Markets Investment Committee, Co-Head of Public Markets Research and a member of GCM Grosvenor’s Global Investment Council – will discuss what makes co-investing an attractive strategy to help achieve absolute returns, while also reviewing the risks and discussing what trustees should be thinking about if considering the strategy.
