In the fast changing world we operate in, infrastructure represents one constant with the ongoing long term need for quality infrastructure to support Society. Another constant on the 25th of January each year is for the Scots to reflect on the contribution to Society from their national bard - Rabbie Burns. Your hosts from First State Investments will cover both.

Marcus Ayre, Partner, Direct Infrastructure, will talk about various aspects of the opportunity set and the current market place, including a look at the risk and return profile of alternative strategies within direct infrastructure. He will also talk about the way that value can be created within core infrastructure.

Alex Mackenzie Smith will share a small reflection on the poetry of Rabbie Burns in traditional fashion.

Marcus Ayre Partner, Direct Infrastructure
Marcus Ayre is a Partner and is Head of Infrastructure Transactions, Europe. He is a member of the European and Global Diversified Infrastructure Fund (GDIF) Investment Committees.
In his role, Marcus is responsible for leading the sourcing and securing of new unlisted infrastructure investment opportunities in Europe. Marcus currently sits on the board of directors of investee companies Caruna, Digita, Finerge and HH Ferries. Previous investee company directorships include ENW and Reganosa.
Prior to joining FSI in 2007, Marcus spent 10 years in European investment banking at Merrill Lynch, HSBC and Barings. During his career Marcus has gained extensive experience advising corporates and funds in relation to in excess of US $65 billion of mergers, acquisitions, disposals and capital market fundraisings throughout Europe.
Marcus has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the University of Birmingham and is a qualified barrister.
