The Defined Benefit Indaba* is a chance for senior figures from the UK’s largest DB pension funds to meet and discuss key asset classes and investment opportunities for 2021 and beyond.

You will hear from a selection of keynote speakers and take part in three interactive Investment Masterclass breakout sessions specifically tailored for defined benefit pension funds.

The Indaba is available for CPD accreditation by the Pensions Management Institute and is exclusively for pension funds and their advisers.

*An Indaba (pronounced in-dar-bah) is an important conference held by the izinDuna (principal people) of the Zulu or Xhosa people. The term comes from a Zulu language word meaning "business" or "matter".

How is investment stewardship evolving to deliver better outcomes for beneficiaries? How can stewardship demonstrate the social utility of finance, rebuild trust and connect back to the ultimate providers of capital? Deborah Gilshan, an independent advisor on investment stewardship & ESG integration, will explore these issues and offer insights into how pension funds hold their intermediaries to account for the stewardship of beneficiaries’ capital.

Megatrends are long-term economic trends that are expected to drive the trajectory of the global economy, shaping businesses and society, today and in the future. A true long-term investor must be able to take into account both short-term and long-term information. Markets tend to focus on short-term information, which can create mispricing opportunities that investors with a long enough time horizon can capitalise on.
