Chinese insurer Ping An has appointed its chief human resources officer Michael Guo, or Guo Xiaotao, as co-chief executive officer, following unanimous agreement by the board of directors.
Guo’s appointment takes effect today as he replaces Jessica Tan, who has resigned “for personal and family reasons”. Tan will continue to work at Ping An until 31 December, and thereafter will continue to serve as a company director.
The other co-CEO of the company is Yonglin Xie, who is also president and executive director of the firm.
Ping An praised Guo for having “extensive experience in strategic transformation and upgrading of large-scale financial and healthcare groups, digital operation and reform and technology innovation”.
Guo joined Ping An Group in September 2019. He served as executive vice president of Ping An’s property and casualty insurance business and CHRO of the group. According to the insurer, he led the digital transformation of P&C insurance business, the group's human resources management reform and system building. Before that, he was a global partner and managing director at Boston Consulting.
Meanwhile, Jianping Sun, the chairman of Ping An Property & Casualty Insurance, will succeed Guo as the group’s CHRO.
Sun joined Ping An in 1988, the year in which the company was founded, having held various positions, including assistant manager, senior vice president, executive vice president and president of Ping An P&C.
