mallowstreet University Roadshow: Opportunities in Fixed Income and the Road to Buyout (Manchester)

As one of the largest asset classes held by UK pension funds, understanding opportunities in fixed income is in focus for almost all trustees.

At this morning workshop, we will breakout into two Investment Masterclasses to hear the latest thinking from some forward-thinking asset managers. We will then examine the questions pension funds should be asking as they map out their ‘end game’, as many are working out how to partially (or fully) transfer their liabilities to an insurer.

This unique half day workshop is accredited by the Pensions Management Institute and is open to pension funds and their advisors.

  6. Masterclass III - Systematic Investing in Fixed Income and High Yield Credit Markets

Tony Gould | AQR Compared with equity investing, bond investing can seem stuck in the dark ages. As asset managers use new technology to trade shares automatically, bond-fund managers still often call traders by phone. Systematic Investing, though now widely used within equities, is both effective and underutilized in credit. Tony will explain how investors may be able to achieve excess returns in the credit markets through a disciplined approach using these same ideas. Applying the same investment themes used in other asset classes to credit can generate attractive and diversifying long-term returns.
  7. Masterclass IV - Navigating the Road to Buyout - Sammy Cooper-Smith, Rothesay Life
