Program

  1. Registration, Tea and Coffee

  2. Welcome Address & Introductions

    Stuart Breyer, CEO, mallowstreet
  3. Rotating Investment Masterclass I: Kames Capital - An Alternative View on Alternative Fixed Income

Low yields from traditional fixed income investments and the prospect of higher interest rates have led many institutional investors to seek alternatives. These include private loans, direct mortgages, asset-backed securities, distressed debt and absolute return bond strategies. These alternative investments can be distinguished from traditional investments by a range of criteria, including regulation, liquidity, securitisation, diversification and return profiles. In this session we explore the range of alternative fixed income assets and discuss the opportunities and risks for institutional investors.
  4. Rotating Investment Masterclass II: PGIM - European Leveraged Finance - Lessons Learnt Through The Credit Cycle

Drawing on more than 20 years investment experience within Fixed Income Credit Research, Mr. Michiel von Saher shares anecdotal reflections of the evolving European Leveraged Finance Market. He compares the key characteristics of the public and private markets, discusses his perspectives of the credit cycle and the development of the market, and explores how in-depth credit research can find relative value opportunities in an evolving, and at times challenging, environment.
  5. Coffee, Tea and Networking

  6. Rotating Investment Masterclass III: AQR - Systematic Investing in Fixed Income and High Yield Credit Markets

Compared with equity investing, bond investing can seem stuck in the dark ages. As asset managers use new technology to trade shares automatically, bond-fund managers still often call traders by phone. Systematic Investing, though now widely used within equities, is both effective and underutilized in credit. Tony will explain how investors may be able to achieve excess returns in the credit markets through a disciplined approach using these same ideas. Applying the same investment themes used in other asset classes to credit can generate attractive and diversifying long-term returns.
  7. Rotating Investment Masterclass IV: Investec - Unconstrained credit in a rising rate environment

Investec Asset Management are long term believers that credit markets are inefficient due to a combination of behavioural and structural factors which presents opportunities for nimble investors. Despite seeing many years of yield compression we still believe there are good opportunities for investors across credit markets. In this session we explore why an unconstrained approach to credit investing maximises an investor’s chance of capturing those opportunities whilst also allowing a manager to take steps to protect capital in periods of increased volatility.
  8. Lunch and Networking
