  3. Rotating Intensive Workshop II: Opportunities in emerging markets for the forward looking investor | Jupiter Asset Management

Emerging markets are grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons, with fear of China and commodity related stresses weighing on share prices. However, we should not ignore the potential rewards of investing at today’s valuation levels, which have historically offered a compelling buying opportunity for long-term investors. Ross will argue that, contrary to the prevailing consensus, now might be the time to consider investing in emerging markets. Ross’s approach focuses on understanding what is changing at the company level. He and the Jupiter Global Emerging Markets team look to invest using a bottom up approach, identifying companies where they believe underappreciated positive change results in strong medium and long term return potential. They believe that this strategy offers exposure to a range of compelling company-specific opportunities, which combine to provide an attractive risk-reward proposition for investors.

She will highlight how private equity returns from these markets compare to other private equity returns globally and to listed markets. The opportunities for financial returns in these markets are significant, but so are the risks. However, there is a significant gap between perceived risk and “real” risks.
